How to speed your Windows 7 start up by disabling Windows Search.

If you have Windows 7 installed in your pc with lot of applications and software’s you might have faced the situation that it’s taking bit time to load up. Windows 7 is much advanced operating system from Microsoft which has lot of inbuilt features to enhance user experience. But sometimes such functionalities compromise its speed. You may never feel this when your machine is fresh and new. But once you start using Windows 7 and you add up lots of files may it be documents, movie files ,audio files and lots of programs and software’s ,you slowly realize that your system has slowed down. In this post I will explain you a simple useful trick by which you can increase your system speed by making your startup lite.

Normally when your system boots up it loads lot of startup services like many of your quick launch applications, your antivirus and many more. Once such inbuilt service of Windows 7 is Windows Search service. Now a little bit about search service. This service starts up when your Windows load (by default). What this service does is it indexes all your system resources such as your files, applications and many more. Thus when you type in anything in the search option in windows it returns back the result. The problem with this service is once you are active and have lot of files and software’s in your machine this indexing takes lot of time and resource (memory). Well to be frank it’s a useful bit of service but it becomes a mess when you have your OS heavily loaded with files and applications.  So it’s recommended that you disable this at your startup so that it increases your system speed remarkably.

So how to disable this service, it’s pretty simple. You need to have administrative privileges to do this.

Once you windows is loaded click Win key + R – Now type services.msc. This opens up services window which shows you all your windows services and navigate down (as in image)

and locate Windows Search. Now right over the Windows Search and select Disabled. Click ok. This disables Windows Search service from startup.

Now you can find your windows loading up pretty fast. Hope this article helped. Do comment.

Have a nice day.
