UAE to Suspend Blackberry service for Oct-2010.

UAE telecommunication regulatory authority (TRA) has announced that it going to suspend the Blackberry services from coming October 2010 on failure being in line with guideline and regulations of TRA. Blackberry service like Blackberry Email,Blackberry messenger and Blackberry Web Browsing service are included. All BlackBerry services fall within the UAE regulatory framework developed by the TRA since 2007, however because of BlackBerry’s technical configuration, some BlackBerry services operate beyond the enforcement these regulations.

BlackBerry data is immediately exported off-shore, where it is managed by a foreign, commercial organisation. BlackBerry data services are currently the only data services operating in the UAE where this is the case.

Both the telecom providers in UAE, Etisalat and Du have been informed about this couple of days earlier.

Earlier there were concerns from the government about the security threat which can come with use of Blackberry message services which have no regulatory controls from the authority and all the communications controlled by Blackberry privately.

Mean while the suspension may be temporary one if both provider and TRA comes up with agreement in guideline and regulation. Let’s wait and watch.
