If somebody asks what’s the backbone of internet then one name comes in our mouth and that’s FTP, and now it’s completing its 40th Anniversary. FTP which stands for File Transfer Protocol which is standard network protocol used to copy a file from one host to another over a network like as the Internet. It’s mostly used to send large amount of files or group of files at a time. On 16 April 1971 FTP was originally launched as the RFC 114 specification.
In recent years we have seen the vast development of P2P networks, FTP still holds its position intact. The backbone of many cloud services is FTP and also one point which makes FTP favorite is its highly secure when compared with services like P2P.
So let’s wish FTP a happy birthday. 🙂
