Quick tip: How to read scratched disks.

Even though we all are living in an age where USB thumb drives, external sleeks HDD drives are very popular optical media has not changed its position much at least in the media industry it’s still those CD /DVD affair .

We also will have many such collection of optical disk may it some driver CD/DVD, software cd pack, songs or videos CD/DVD. One sad thing about optical drives like cd/dvd is that prolonged usage or rather bad improper use may create lots of scratches on disks which will make it unreadable. In this post I will explain about two household tricks which you can use to remove scratches from the disks.

  1. Brass Metal Polish: Clean your disk with Brass Metal Polish which is available commonly in the market. Well even though it’s not so common household commodity unless until you have lots of ornamental or decorative metals at home, still it gives you brilliant results. You can check it out and find surprising results.
  2. Toothpaste: Now this is something everyone has or you can find any part of the world and so its good news for people who wants to read those CD/DVD, In order to clean the disk take the CD/DVD spread the paste (like alphabet U in English), now with a soft cloth rub it from center to outer side of CD/DVD. You can use little stress when doing this if its badly effected disk. Once you have done that you can wash the CD/DVD wait rub with a soft cloth (velvet type, not your garments) and then check it out.
