While Tablet PCs are still relatively new, they are undeniably popular and as more and more companies rush to meet the demand in this new sector it is clear that Apple is not the only kid on the block anymore! In addition with the deals currently available through some of the Mobile Broadband providers you are able to get significant discounts on the purchase of a new Tablet PC or even a free laptop when you sign up for a new Mobile Broadband contract! Some of the newest and most interesting Tablets this year are:
iPad 2
No list of Tablet PCs could be complete without Apples flagship product. The iPad when it launched in itself created a brand new market segment and one year on the iPad 2 has shown why Apple controls almost 80% of the Tablet PC customer base. A lighter, faster and thinner unit, the iPad 2 has an increased battery life in comparison to its predecessor and with access to all of Apples applications and its huge App store, there are things that this device can do now, that some of the others are still only dreaming about!
Blackberry Playbook
While Blackberries are the acknowledged leaders in the business world with their QWERTY keyboard Smartphones, they never really had a presence in the Tablet world until they started talking about the Playbook. This new device however sports a dual core CPU and an impressive 1GB of RAM. While it only has a 7 inch screen, the sharpness and quality of this device is second to none and with its new Operating System custom built for the Playbook and Tablet PCs, this device has a very real chance to be the next big thing. In addition the BlackBerry App World has a host of new apps that have been custom built to work on this device and to take advantage of all of its capabilities.
Motorola XOOM
The Android operating system is currently far outselling the iPhone or any other type of Smartphone in the market, unfortunately the original “iPad killer” the Samsung Galaxy Tab just did not deliver on its hype and was completely unable to displace the iPad from its pedestal at the top of the roost. However the Motorola XOOM is running Googles newest Honeycomb operating system which has been customized to work with Tablet PCs and with an ever increasing library of apps, the XOOM stands a very good chance of being the must have gadget of the season. The XOOM matches Blackberry with a dual core CPU specification and in its RAM, however with 32GB of flash storage and 10 inch screen the XOOM offers just that little bit more!
While 2010 was the year of Apple and the iPad, 2011 is shaping up to be something quite a bit more interesting from the user point of view – a real choice between competing products that anyone would be happy to use and play with.
