Symantec has acquired VeriSign a web security provider company from Mountain View, CA, USA.Symantec announced this to press on 9th Aug 2010.VeriSign provides many services like Digital certificates, Website protection, Secure Online Shopping, managed PKI to two-factor authentication etc. Some of VeriSign’s identity and authentication business includes VeriSign Trust Seal, VIP Fraud Detection Service (FDS), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Code Signing Certificate Services, Managed Public Key Infrastructure (MPKI) Services, VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) Authentication Service.
VeriSign founded in 1995 has now more than 3 Million certificates which include all sectors of web like retails, finance, military and many more to follow.
